Photo Field Trips
Group field trips are among our favorite activities. We are blessed with landscapes of incredible beauty and communities with rich architectural, historical and cultural features throughout Kentucky, Indiana, and nearby states. Members travel near and far to photograph special events, architecture, and natural beauty, to name a few of our subjects.
Recent trips include various locales around Metro Louisville and the region. Regional destinations include the Woodford Reserve Distillery, Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis, and the Krohn Conservatory (shown at left) and Union Terminal in Cincinnati.
We organize trips to interesting destinations on a regular basis. We provide members information about the sites, photographic opportunities and restrictions, admission costs, and potential accommodations. And, occasionally, we can gain special group access or tours that allow participants to get those truly exceptional shots.

We usually travel to Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee each January to photograph American Bald Eagles in their winter habitat, as well as owls, hawks, waterfowl, and other wildlife.
Workshops
The PhotoForum hosts occasional day-long or part-day workshops focused on acquiring or building skills. These workshops may be geared to particular aspects of image capture (the “in-camera” process), storage and organization of image libraries, post-production enhancements, preparing and conducting public displays, etc.
These workshops will attempt to fulfill the needs of photographers at all experience levels, utilizing the expertise of our own colleagues or, when available, the knowledge and skills of experts from the larger photographic community.

Travel Arrangements
While the PhotoForum cannot provide group transportation for field trips, we encourage members to meet at a pre-arranged departure point and carpool to the destination. This arrangement is both efficient and ecologically sound.
